Mart Ballet
Video art project that emerged during the unprecedented challenges of 2020. Created by the MART Foundation and led by Anastasia Vorotnikova, the project features collaborations with renowned ballet artists performing in iconic Moscow museums, including the Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Moscow, and the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art. Through this multi-layered synthesis of dance and digital art, we explored the resilience and enduring power of art to fill cultural spaces with new meaning, even in times of isolation.

Concept
The concept of this project revolves around the idea that art, much like nature, abhors a vacuum. In the face of pandemic-induced closures of cultural institutions, the project sought to demonstrate that art does not lose hope but instead adapts and thrives in new forms and spaces. By integrating contemporary dance with video art, we create a dialogue between different artistic genres, fostering a broader platform for dance expression. The project features performances by Israeli choreographer Lotem Regev, who explores dance within the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, choreographer Vladimir Varnava improvising in the halls of the New Tretyakov Gallery, and Ballet Moscow soloist Anastasia Peshkova dancing in the Museum of Moscow. Each performance uniquely interacts with the museum environment, symbolising the fusion of personal and collective artistic experiences.
